The Location of Tsfat is smack dab in the middle of Northern Israel in a region call the Galilee. Being Israel's coldest and most elevated city, Tsfat rests 3200 feet above sea level in the mountain range of the Upper Galilee.
By car the simplest directions to reach the city of Tsfat would be to take highway 90 north from Tiberias and then take the highway 89 west into town. The entire drive from Tiberias usually takes about 40 minutes. On the approach to Tsfat one can't help but marvel at the rolling hills and winding mountain roads with their breath taking panoramas all the way up to the entrance to town. To find the Tsfat location on a simple globe just search at the eastern end of the mediteranean sea to locate where europe asia anad africa meet. Precisely there lies the holy land of Israel. When examined by sateline photos like those found online at Google Maps, one finds southern israel to be mostly baren with the largest part being desert, central israel holds the holy capital of Jerusalem and the megatropolis Tel aviv, this being the rural and inner city belt where most of the population resides. It is in the north of Israel where nature's exquisite beauty unfolds and seemingly takes over. From the fertile valley beneath the sea of Galilee also called the Kineret, through the mountains to the upper Gallilee and the white cap of Mount Hermon the beauty of nature becomes redifined.
Tsfat, the capital of northern israel in the Galilee, is a popular destination for tourists the world over no matter if they are vacationing citizens from other parts of the country or international tourists who have come to enjoy the amazing panoramas, fresh mountain air and other recreational and spiritual offerings. Many residents of the town operate guest houses with informal bed and breakfast service. They are known as Zimmers and Tsfat alone sports over 400 of them. Most of them see business little more than twice a year during the Lag BaOmer festival which is mainly the celebration of "Yom Haillula" also known as the Yartziet or rememberance day of the famed Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, and as well the International Klezmer festival which bring bands and audiences from all over the globe.
Upon arrival, visitors find plenty of local transportation in the form of city bus service, taxis and car rentals. Many visitors and residents alike live in the old city where everything can be found in walking distance and an abundance of fresh mountain air becomes the best medicine for clear thinking and spiritual meditation. Just outside of Tsfat can be found forest parks and nature reserves. In town, the old city is lined with narrow cobblestone alleyways loaded with artist galleries, historic synagogues, and many private homes that offer one or two guest houses for nightly rental.
The panoramic views extend from the Dan region to the north across to Mount Hermon in the northeast. As well spectacular views stretch around to the sea of Galilee in the South East and across the plains of the Israel Valley to the south.
